This author loves to stump, surprise or creep out her readers.

I'm so excited to bring to everyone the addition of author interviews to Sue's Romance Reviews. Lucky winner for the first interview post is author Cate McCoy! Her answers are honest and heartfelt and I hope you will enjoy reading them as much as I have!
Without further ado, on to the interview!
Q: You are a new-to-me author and I have my copy of your most recent release, Saving Valentines, that was published in February of this year. What can we as readers expect from this book?
A: My trademark twists and surprises. I love to stump, surprise or creep out my readers. Lol
Q: Where did the inspiration for Saving Valentines come from?
A: As with most of my inspiration it comes from my kids, relatives and dreams I've had. The main character, Chastity Valentines' childhood trauma actually happened to one of my children. She has a fear of midgets to this day. She's extremely uncomfortable around them.
Q: How long did it take to write it?
A: This was a short one, just under a month. Even with the research I did on drugs that were contraindicated of each other. And the research on coping mechanism for people undergoing a panic attack.
Q: What do you consider the most difficult part of writing this book?
A: Definitely the research about drugs. I also had to decide whether to actually put the name of the drugs in the book. I chose not to put the name of the drugs. I don't want to be responsible of even one person learning from reading my book of a combination of drugs to make someone compliant, memory lost, etc.
Q: When and where do you write most often?
A: I write on my sofa with my laptop on the coffee table.
Q: What’s next for you as an author?
A: I have multiple projects in the works right now. One to do with a television sitcom being developed right now.
But, as an Author the thing I am most excited about is my triple play. It's 3 of my screenplays that I'm writing the novels for. 3 different novels, 3 different genres to be released on the same day. Horror, Action-Thriller, and Sci-fi.
Q: How many books have you written to date? Which one is your favorite?
A: 9 if you count my 2 children's books that are a part of a growing series. My first book is always going to be my favorite. It started it all for me.
Q: What author would you most compare you writing style to?
A: Hmm, that's hard. I often get in my reviews, "hard to categorize", "not sure which genre this book belongs". I would have to say I'm a mix of several writers, Sandra Brown, Shannon McKenna, Lauren Dane with a little of Stephen King thrown in for good measure. But, like all writers I would like to answer: I write like no one else. Lol we writers have our egos.
Q: What is your favorite book? Why?
A: A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer. Unfortunately this book resonated with me bc I was in a foster home and can relate to character
Q: Which authors do you look up to?
A: Shonda Rhimes, Stephen King
Q: If you could be any character from any book, who would you choose? Why?
A: Clarice Sterling from Silence of the Lambs. She's just a strong, smart, down to earth investigator. Who wouldn't want to be that?
Q: What is considered a necessity when you write?
A: snacks, music for certain scenes.
Q: What do you consider success when it comes to publishing your books? Is it how many books are sold? Reader feedback? Do you feel you have achieved it?
A: Of course every writer wants to be a top seller, they're lying if they say they're not interested in money too. Every one would love to be able to live without struggling by doing what they love. Money and being a best seller ARE earmarks of success. But, I absolutely LOVE to hear from my readers. The good, bad, and the ugly. Feedback let's you know that you are actually being read. Now that's success!
Q: Do you have any furbabies?
A: No furbabies for me personally. My favorite from childhood was a long-hair German Sheppard named Baron.
Q: What do you consider your greatest achievement and your greatest defeat?
A: Greatest achievement are hands down my 5 kids and 3 grandbabies. My greatest defeat is the failed relationship with my kids' father.
Q: Is there anything you can tell us about your current or upcoming WIP?
A: Upcoming I am a part of an anthology of retold fairytales. I have Cinderella this year and Red Riding Hood in 2020. The deadline for my retold fairytale is Aug. 1 and it will be released shortly after. I am also writing a treatment and pilot episode for a crime drama series. And early next year is my Triple Play.
