ADD TO GOODREADS

Blake

I never knew the brooding single dad in the neighborhood would become my obsession one day. I’m in trouble for lusting after a man who is decades older than me, but then he’s too perfect to avoid. Too hot to ignore. Too forbidden to let go.

I’m tired of frat boys and clingy boyfriends. I need someone like William in my life.

William

She enters our lives like a gusty wind. At first, she seems like a bad influence on my daughter. But soon, I realize Blake is not all about prank and mischief . There's a lot hidden behind her naughty eyes and impish grin. I want to help her, offer her a shoulder to cry on, unknown about my own emotions. Feelings that draw me closer to her. Not in a normal way but in a very forbidden way.

MY REVIEW

The story is entertaining and the writing is good. The characters themselves are all down to earth and warm.

William is a wonderful and caring, if not over-protective, father. He works hard to keep his daughter happy and safe. He is not perfect, however, and swaddles his daughter way too much.

Blake, for me, is like a free-spirit. Wild and fun, she brings a happiness and lightness to William and his daughter’s life that is desperately needed.

With that being said, I wanted to love this couple together but felt like it was a case of lust instead of love. The first part of the book was about Blake being a regular teenager with a teenager’s priorities of parties and friendships. The second, was devoted to her chase and seduction of her best-friend’s father. I felt as though the turnaround came too quick. Her priority switch seemed like a light has been flipped instead of a natural progression into love. Because of that, their love, for me, felt forced.

It was also hard to understand why Blake decided to let go and be with Blake when what seems like minutes before, he was still adamantly fighting himself over it.

I also wished there were more meaningful moments between them together because I did not feel the depth of love in their relationship that I believe I should have had.

This is a quick beach read that will satisfy those looking for something light and fluffy.

I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Maya Sliver writes offbeat romance, not a conventional boy meets girl type but stories that are taboo and forbidden, unconventional and free-spirited, sultry and sweltering, and raw and rebellious.

Maya enjoys transporting her readers to a land of unconventional heroes & bold heroines, taboo love stories, lush and untamed emotions. All with a guaranteed happily ever after.

When she’s not writing or reading, she’s probably singing, cooking for her family, and sowing new seeds and plants in her mini garden.
