MY REVIEW
This is the first book I read by S. Goodin and I will definitely read more from this author.
The writing is amazing and I enjoyed the characters and the story tremendously.
Masen was such a tease. I love the way he touches Billie and the words they share are so sexy during those times.
Billie was strong when she needed to be. I liked the fact that she demanded to be noticed by Masen. That every time he pushes her away, she would come back and work it out.
Josh, a secondary character, brought life to this book, for me. He was fun-loving and sexy not to mention down-to-earth.
Overall, however, this book was hard for me to rate. I connected and liked all the characters in this book but I wanted more from this story. For me, it felt a little superficial. Nothing, in my opinion, was explored or experienced in depth. It all just felt glossed over.
Throughout the book, the passion simmers. I loved that but, at the same time, I wanted so much more from it. Masen and Billie have all this passion and chemistry but it never quite boiled over in my opinion. It just simmers and never really explodes, and I know this couple could definitely have that.
There is also a lot of emotional moments in this book but that, as well, feels tempered and never fully fleshed out or explored. You feel for them but it’s all just surface. For me, the book did not dig deep enough to feel the full impact of Masen and Billie’s feelings.
Masen’s music, fandom and Rockstar status not to mention his recovery from alcohol addiction are not explored. We don’t get the chance to know what brought him so low or even about his past. For me this is the difference between an incredible and memorable read and the good book I just read.
For those who love a lot of spice and sensuality, this book is a little tame in that regard but, the story that is told endears this couple to you regardless. Their longing gazes and touches give you all the feels.
Please note that as a reader I, personally, love a lot of angst and feels in the books I read. I believe that those who enjoy and look for a fluffy, heartwarming and well written romance will definitely love this story and rate this book higher.
I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
