When a resourceful English lady and a hot-blooded Highlander join forces to trick a scoundrel, every rule will be broken!

Miranda Harris is known for her charm, wit, and ability to solve any problem she encounters. But when her brother lands neck-deep in gambling debt to a crafty villain and Miranda is subsequently blackmailed into marrying him, she must enlist the help of the devil himself to save the family honor―and herself.

Devilishly handsome Highlander Aden MacTaggert knows next to nothing about the ways of the ton, but he most certainly knows his way around gaming halls and womens’ hearts. Still, Aden is not sure how he’ll manage to find a Sassenach bride in time to save his family’s inheritance. When his almost sister-in-law Miranda comes to him for assistance, he proposes a partnership: She will help him navigate London society and he’ll teach her everything about wagering…and winning back her freedom. The beautiful, clever lass intrigues Aden―but is she playing her own game, or are the sparks between them real? He is accustomed to risking his pocket. But betting on Miranda’s love is a game he can’t afford to lose. . .

MY REVIEW

Aden has reluctantly come to England in search of a bride. His mother has decreed that he as well as his brothers must be wed before their younger sister, who is currently engaged, weds. This is a highly difficult task for Aden as he finds English women lacking in fire and interesting conversation. That is, until he meets Miranda. Her fire and passion stir something within him. Too bad her fire and passion come out while telling him she hates him and his gambling ways!

When the tables turn Miranda must eat crow and apologize to Aden. She will need his gambling knowledge to outsmart Captain Vale, a ruthless gambler who wants her hand in marriage, as well as her connections in society, or he will ruin and bankrupt her family.

As they conspire together to outwit this nefarious character, Aden knows without a doubt that Miranda is the woman he wants.

Will Miranda be set free from her burden of marriage to Captain Vale? And if she is, will she want to tie herself forever to Aden?

I am in LOVE! *fans self* I’ve been Hylandered!

Aden showed his sweetness right from the beginning in his treatment of an abused dog. He continues to show this kindness in everything he does. When he must, he becomes demanding and possessive. So sexy!

His character is written so well it’s almost like he has a physical presence. He seems tangible. I swear I heard his accent and could see his tall, broad body and trademark smirk. I liked him a whole helluva lot!

Miranda is sassy and brave. She made the perfect match for Aden giving as much as she got.

Together Miranda and Aden are sweet and loving. A tentative love blooms and it becomes all-encompassing. They are honest, forthright and absolutely cute together.

I must admit that I love the brothers’ outrageous bet with their shoe wear. It was ridiculous and oh so funny.

I need more of these Hylanders! I cannot wait to read Coll’s book!

I received an ARC via NetGalley of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
